Airneth Seminar – The Feasibility of Long-Haul Low-Cost Operations

Airneth, a worldwide scientific network for aviation research and policy, has organized on the 9th of December a seminar at the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment in The Hague on the topic of long-haul lost cost operations.

PROLOGIS has been one of the presenters through our colleagues Hanna Schaal and Bogdan Delicostea, tackling the degree in which the low-cost business model could be transferred to long-haul operations.

The following presentations, from academia (prof. Sveinn Gudmundsson, Toulouse Business School) and airlines (Jeroen Erdman, Transavia) brought new light and very interesting arguments to the topic which culminated in an interactive panel discussion.

The general feeling is that airlines that want to pursue this business model need to rethink their approach at least as much as LCCs did in the past and should develop  unique value proposition to attract customers.
